Walgreens $5 off a $20 Purchase Coupon

On my trip to Walgreens this week I am trying to find a good way to take advantage of the $5 off a $20 purchase while getting things that we actually need to get or just some great buys.

Check out what I have come up with this week.

Buy Alka-Seltzer Plus $4.99
Buy 2 Scotch Tape 3 Pack $1.99 each
Buy Theraflu Warming Relief $4.99
Buy 2 Triaminic $4.99 each
Buy 16 Halloween Pencils $2
Buy Russell Stover Candy $0.39

USE
In store coupon for Scotch Tape $1.99 each
$2 off coupon for Theraflu (10/19/08 local paper)
$2.99 off mail in rebate for Theraflu (10/19/08 local paper)
$2/1 Triaminic (Print two coupons)
In store coupon for pencils 8/$1 16/$2
In store coupon for Russell Stover Candy $0.39

Total $20.33
Use your $5 off a $20 purchase
OOP $15.33
Register Rewards Earned $12.99
Easy Saver Rebates Earned $2
Mail in Rebates $2.99
Total Earned $17.98
That is a profit of $2.65

I also have my Register Rewards from last week to roll over so I will not have to pay anything out of pocket this week!

The mail in rebate for the Theraflu will only be for $2.99. They minus out the coupon total. So this is FREE after the mail in rebate.

I love this transaction because I am getting tape for holiday gifts and getting some Halloween gifts purchased for my son’s class.

There are a lot of other great purchases this week. Check out Deal Seeking Mom site for some of the other combinations that you can use.

Can you use RR's after the $5.00/$20 coupon?

My Walgreen's allows me to use them. I just made my purchase today and I did use them. I have never had a problem using them but I have heard other's say that they have. I paid $1.48 out of pocket today and have two rebates to send for!
Have you had a problem using the RR's with the coupons?
Anyone else?

As another note I always give my coupons for items and then they tell me the total. I give them my $5 off coupon and then they tell me how much to pay. I give them any RR's and cash to pay. The Walgreen's seems to be fine with it. Not sure if this works everywhere.

hmmm, i'll have to try it. I've never tried because of the wording on the coupon that says it has to be after all manufacturer and walgreens coupons. thanks!
