Eye Clops Night Vision Infrared Stealth Goggles

While working with Wal-Mart, Jakks Pacific, the maker of Eye Clops Night Vision Infrared Stealth Goggles, provided me with a sample of this great product to review. I have a 9 year old son who was perfect to test out this product for me.

The Eye Clops Night Vision Infrared Stealth Goggles are powered by REAL night vision technology and you can see up to 50 feet in complete darkness. There are two different modes so that you can see things up close and far away. The great thing is that you can see things without them seeing you.

My son and I decided to go outside at night and see what we could find. It was neat to see bugs, animals, and movement far away that we couldn’t see in the dark. This is not just a toy for kids. I can tell you that I was excited trying these out also. What a great toy and it is exciting to. The goggles are adjustable so that they can fit children and adults.
My son says he loves them! He asks me several times a week if he can go outside and use his goggles. He has told his friends about them and they all love the product.

These Night Vision Goggles are on the Walmart top 12 toys of Christmas list. You have to check them out. They have been kid tested and approved at my house! You can get this at Walmart now for $68.88. I know it is going to be a hot toy this year so don’t miss you!

Great Way to Support Your Charity by Searching the Internet

Have you heard of Good Search?

You can now give to the charity of your choice just by searching the internet. Good Search is powered by Yahoo! Every time you do a search on the internet it will give a penny to the charity that you have selected. You get the same great results if you were using Yahoo!

I personally have selected the money to go to my son’s elementary school. Is your child’s school not listed? Work with the school to try and spread the word. Get them signed up to start raising money for the school. So far this year my son’s school has raised $19. I know it may not seem like a lot but it is something that we have just started. If there were 1,000 parents who searched 2 times per day the school could raise $7,300 per year!

Go to the Good Search Website and select the charity of your choice and start searching now. Then spread the word to others on your blogs and let them know to start using Good Search also.

Share on my blog what charities you have start searching the internet for. I would love to hear about what charities others are supporting.

My Survey

Check out the MySurvey website to earn some extra money for the holidays. I have been a member for the last 1 1/2 years and have earned $250 just from doing surveys online and through the mail. It has been a nice extra source of money.

I also do surveys for Opinion Place and get American Airlines Miles. You have a choice of what reward you would like. I have done this for a couple of years and have earned several 1000 miles. Check it out.

I personally do survey's for Global Test Market, My Survey, American Consumer Opinion Place, and Opinion Place. I have found that Global Test Market is the biggest payout so far.

Check out Deal Seeking Mom for other great survey opportunities. Others have posted about their experiences with online surveys and there are a ton of other places mentioned.

Have you heard of this??

IToys ME2 Online/Exercise Gaming System

I have never heard of this new gaming system but thanks to Deal Seeking Mom I learned about it today. Check out her blog for more information about this toy and also check it out on the Walmart website for more information.

What to hear even better news? Deal Seeking Mom is giving away not one but TWO of these on her blog. You have to check it out. Deal Seeking Mom has become one of my favorite sites to visit. You have to enter to try and win one of these great toys.

CVS Challenge

This is my first week as a CVS shopper. The only time I have been in CVS before was when that was the only place I could find to use the restroom. So it was a big surprise to me that there were so many great money saving deals there. So here is my first week for shopping. I had no ECB's to use from previous weeks and only wanted to do one trasaction so I will use my ECB's I earned this week on my next trip. I know for sure there will be many more.

Here is what I purchased.

1- GUM valuepack of Toothbrushs $3.99
2- Brach Candies $ 2.58
3- 24 count Excedrin $5.97
1- Poweraid $1.69
1- Just for Men Hair Color $7.99
1- Pumpkin Pail $0.99
2- Funlight Glow $1.98
2- Colgate Total Whitening $2.69

Coupons
3- $2 off Excedrin Total $6
1- $2 off Just for Men
2- $1.50 off Toothpaste Total $3

Total Coupons $11
(The store told me it was OK to use two $1.50 off coupons on the Colgate Total even though it was buy one get one free, so that was a bonus)

My total after tax was $18.41

I received $19.22 in ECB's that is a profit of $0.81.
There are two mail in rebates this week $8 for the Just for Men and $2 for the Excedrin. That is another $10. So I have a $10.81 profit this week just for shopping!

(The reason I only bought one pumpkin is because they hardly had any left and I really only needed one and didn't want another family that really needed them to go without but the limit was 2. I could only buy 1 toothbrush, even though you could get 5 packs, because there were no toothbrushes left! Good deal!)

National Breast Cancer Awareness Month

Since October is National Breast Cancer Awareness Month I am seeing and reading about everything that we need to be doing as women to get screened and lower our risks for this cancer. I hope you know what you need to do and if not check out the Susan G. Komen website on early detection and screening. Reading all of this made me call my doctor today as my last checkup was in January of 2007. I had meant to make an appointment earlier this year but with everything going on it seems that time slips away from us. We get so busy with the kids, work, and life that we forget to make sure we are taking care of ourselves. I encourage everyone if they haven’t made their annual checkups to do that now! Don’t wait one more day because you are too busy or don’t think it can happen to you. Those people who we work so hard to take care of everyday, our kids and family, need us here as long as possible. So make your appointment today!

If you don't know the story behind Susan check it out. It is a great cause.

There are many ways that you can give and support the fight against breast cancer. Check out some of the events in your local community and see what you can do. I know my sister is doing a Race for the Cure event in her local area with her employees from work. Her personal goal is to raise $100 for the fight against breast cancer and to help fight for a cure.

Energy Saving Challenge

I have been asking myself what I can do to help lower costs around my house. I have decided to tackle my electric bill first. Right now my average bill per month has been $188. Here is a list of my monthly electric bills over the last year and a half.

July 2007 172.46
Aug 2007 169.19
Sept 2007 176.48
Oct 2007 155.03
Nov 2007 107.46
Dec 2007 170.41
Jan 2008 281.54
Feb 2008 257.51
Mar 2008 268.59
Apr 2008 221.97
May 2008 135.46
June 2008 97.38
July 2008 129.89
Aug 2008 160.12
Sept 2008 140.68
Oct 2008 ??

I haven’t received my October 2008 bill as of yet but from now forward I have a goal to reduce my electric bill compared to the same month last year and hopefully in turn save money over the next. Since the weather can change month to month here in Wisconsin I am not only going to look at month to month savings but will look at the year as a whole. From July 2007 to June 2008 I have spent $2213.48 on my electricity bill. So far for July 2008-Sept 2008 I have spent $430.69. This is already a reduction of $87.44 from the same time last year and I haven’t even done anything to reduce my energy use.

TURN THINGS OFF THAT YOU AREN’T USING. So I decided to figure out some easy things that I can do to reduce my energy usage around the house. One thing that we do at home is we always leave the computer on. It is turned on 24 hours per day and probably has been for the last two years. I know this is bad. So starting today I have decided that since we are hardly home and use the computer maybe 1 hour a day, if even, there is no reason to leave it turned on all the time. The same thing goes for my printer and all electronic items in my office. I barely use these items and yet I leave them powered on and ready to go at a moments notice. That is because if I want to use them I don’t want to have to wait but I am thinking that this could be a big savings each year by just turning these off.

COMBINE LOADS OF LAUNDRY AND SAVE $$. My next idea is to reduce 3 loads of laundry into one. I have two children and we all do our own laundry. I have even taught my 9 year old son how to do his own laundry and how to sort out his whites. My daughter, well sometimes she still just throws her whites in with the rest of her stuff, but for the most part we do 3 small loads of whites per week and that would total around 156 loads of whites a year and around 13 loads per month. I do want my kids to do their own laundry but I have decided to make a basket for whites. This basket will be where all of us can put our whites and when the basket gets full we will wash them all together. I am hoping to reduce this from 3 loads per week to 1. This will mean we will now only do 52 loads of whites a year cutting back 104 loads of laundry and only doing around 4 loads of whites per month. I know that I will see a reduction in my energy usage from this and a reduction in my detergent and dryer sheet use.

SAVE ON DRYER SHEETS. CUT THEM IN ½. I know I can’t reduce my energy usage from this next tip but it is something that I am implementing today and I learned this tip from the elevenmoms of Walmart when we met in Bentonville. They were telling me a trick about cutting their dryer sheets in half and only using half of them. I was thinking to myself wow and couldn’t believe that I was always using TWO dryer sheets per load. I had never heard of this. So if I am doing around 10 loads of laundry a week around my house we are doing around 520 loads of laundry a year. Since I have been using 2 dryer sheets per load, and taught my children to do that, we have been using around 1040 dryer sheets per year. I know how embarrassing that I have been doing this. I am now going to cut my dryer sheets in half. They are big enough to probably cut them in 3’s but we will start with cutting them in half. This means that I will go from using around 1040 sheets per year to around 260 sheets per year! I am going to go from buying around 13 boxes of 80 sheets to 3-4 boxes of 80 sheets per year. I usually pay around $3-4 per box so this is a savings of close to $40 a year!

So these are two things that I am going to try this month to reduce my energy usage at home and hopefully lower my bill. If you are doing the same things that I am doing why don’t you take the challenge also? I would love to hear what you have saved!

Can anyone give some more easy tricks to save money at home that require little effort? I am really not even going to have to try and do these things and they require little effort on my part.

I will be excited to share next month when I get my bill and how much I have saved!

TOTAL SAVED $87.44
GOAL $500

$412.56 TILL I REACH MY GOAL

Redbox

While on my trip to Wal-Mart in Bentonville with the #11moms I discovered Redbox. I am a person who frequently rents movies. I might not watch that many in a month so a monthly subscription might not be the best thing for me. I do have one now but I just don't feel that I am getting value out of it anymore. On my trip to Wal-Mart's headquarters I discovered Redbox. I was so excited and had never seen anything like this before. All I did was go to the Redbox website and find a location nearest me and now I can start getting $1 rentals. Click here to check it out.
